Today I went back to my roots.

Actually I was back for 3 days in a row to attend this yoga teacher’s class. And I remembered. Why I love yoga so. :)

For the last ten years or so, I was an avid gym goer. Every weekend I will hit the gym like a mad woman. Ran and walked on the threadmill, went around the equipment in the gym, burning my muscles on each machine. Of course being human, I do get lazy at times and the fact that i do not have any gym buddy, makes each workout quite a chore at times. I also went for the occasional pilates and yoga classes. I usually love my pilates class and I would be quite consistent and go for the pilates classes. This is due to a good teacher who pushes you in each class.

Then I met one of my best friend online. My bud. She was a most lovely lady with alot of heart and soul, I met her in one of those shopping spree forums where girls grouped together to make overseas purchases so that we can cut the shipping costs down. She found yoga and was touting to me the fantastic benefits it has given her, getting slimmer being the highlight… of course. She was going for this teacher’s class consistently and was smitten, addicted… much like to smoking. I could not believe it. But I was lured by the fact that you can slim down!!

And so I joined the class by this teacher. His class was mind-blowingly inspiring. Everytime we went to his class, which is power yoga, we love the flow. It is just so inspiring and beautiful that it makes you just wanna perfect the flow. Really! It pushes me to attend his every class, and even though in the beginning I cannot do like 90% of the moves, I was inspired. Thus his classes has fueled this passion for yoga. He brings a positive energy in the class, plus his flow and his postures graced and inspired everyone in the class. Plus, he has a great voice that is soothing.

There were some indian yoga teachers who observed some parts of his class and says his class is not tough, and why does every one says it is tough? And then they went back and tried to add in all the very tough poses into the class. They did not understand…

It was not the super duper difficult poses that the “advanced” students loved ( I do not think I am advanced, but many thinks that students who go this teacher’s class is advanced… ), it was the flow, the energy and the graceful move from one pose to the other, seamless elegance that each sequence brings when you have the strength, bandha and the energy to do them effortlessly.

It is pure beauty.

I am inspired again. Forgotten inspiration that came back after 2 months of absense from his classes. I am indebted to his teachings and his inspirations that fired the yoga passion in me. “Remember to breathe, focus on your breath, … ”

Thank you, Master Hee Boon! :)
