Yes, today the yoga teacher was saying that handstands make people happy!
With blood rushing to the head, it is probably hard not to. :)

So she says, everytime you need that spurt of energy or you wanna feel happy, do a happy handstand!

Well today, we did 3 sets of 5 breaths handstands and a final one minute handstand. I am drowning in happiness I tell you. Probably also that I can now consistently kick up into a handstand against the wall. ;)

She did some interesting hip openings that involved double pigeons ( which we use our hands to physicall rotate the thigh muscles of the top leg outwards to bring the top leg nearer to the bottom leg ), same thing with the rolling of the thigh muscles in the pigeon in the front leg. She did all this to go into the final pose of V—- D—- Pose 2 ( okay i cant rem the name… but I promise i look it up… )
Sit with legs apart. Start with one leg thigh muscle turning out and the other leg thigh muscle turning in. In effect, one feet will be having the little toe near the floor and the other foot big toe touching the floor. Move the leg with the big toe on the floor to the back, with now the thigh straight behind you. Then move the other leg to have the shin across the mat. Then hold the feet of the leg behind. Push it forward ( much like pigeon ), with the foot touching your hip ( or outside ). All this time, keep your body upright. Then once you have “sink” into the pose, start to bring the front foot towards the back foot and to make them touch so that the both feet will form a namaste.

Totally cool!

EDIT: ok found the name of the pose ( from Light Of Yoga by Iyengar ) it is called VamaDevasana 2 ;) great book!

Om~
