I still cannot understand why I cannot do headstand. Such a simple pose and yet, it has taken me eons to get it right. Everytime I think I am near to getting it, well, it just aint there. Balance in the upside down fashion is not something that normal people do. How do I feel the balance? What am I supposed to feel when I am balanced? I am seeking that point. How do I know I am balanced whenI am upside down? I needto know that feeling before I know which feeling to stay in in order to balance. Like standing up.We have our liquid in the ears to help us balance. But when we are upside down, what do we depend on? I wonder.

Yet, some people who are doing the headstand for the very first time, can just go up effortlessly. It is like a natural thing for them.

I think I need to convince my body.

  1. I came across your site and I feel your frustration about headstand. For a long time I was unable to do it and I couldn’t understand why. I thought maybe weight had to do with it but I was wrong.

Basically, the more you press your forearms to the floor, the more balance and stable you will feel in the pose. Do you practice against the wall at all?

  2. hello Marilyn

Yes I do press my forearms down. I can feel most of my weight on my forearms and upper arms. I think my main problem is that I cannot feel the balancing.

I started with practicing without any walls. But now I do practice against the wall to try to stay up longer and try to find that balancing point.

By the way, thanks for the comment! You are my first commentor :)

    Peace!
