OK this is my second time writing this blog entry…. i hope it goes through this time…. ~om~
Yes, I have finally done my very first pigeon! ( rewriting a blog entry is a nightmare…. my first one was great… gosh now I have to rethink what I have written just now ) SO Darn cool!
This was all due to this teacher’s clear instructions that helped me finally go into the pose (with his help and encouragement too! ) I am very thankful for all his guidance.

The whole idea is to focus on your pelvic in order to balance first. You must square your hips even though you may be lifted. After you have square your hips, draw your both thighs back into the pelvic to consolidate ( breathe in ), then tuck your tailbone ( breathe out ). Do this couple of times during the pose to help balance your self. Slowly bend your back arm ( the one holding to your foot behind ) such that your elbow is sticking upwards to the sky. Then with your other hand reach back slowly. As you go back, lift your chest and open and “puff” your chest much like a pigeon, stretch open the throat area and arch your entire back and slowly reach your hand to the elbow of the back arm. During this action you might need to consolidate and tuck your tailbone again to balance yourself. This was very helpful to me for balancing the pose.
Once you grab hold of the elbow, slowly move your hand along the elbow to the hand and finally to the foot. Once you have both hands on your foot, consolidate again and tuck your tailbone and then this time sink into your hips to lower yourself.
There you go… my very own pigeon pose!
