This class rates on the top of my list as the toughest yoga class. I always call this class THE torture class. What are the yoga poses that we do? Here are a short summary of what was considered the medium level Torture class :
1. Start with sun salutations. ( variations include going down in child’s pose and then from there slowly move along the floor forward up into downward dog )
2. Camel pose. 1st variation : normal, 2nd variation : pull one of the leg up and hand to press the feet forward, towards the bottom and the other hand to reach the other leg’s ankle, 3rd variation : one leg in lotus and reach the other leg’s ankle.
3. Side planks. 5 variations altogether : 1. with one leg at the back to support 2. the legs open in 90 degrees 3. normal with both legs straight 4. top leg bent and rest on the lower leg 5. full pose with the finger hooked to the feet and extend the leg up. Repeat for both sides.
4. Hanumansana, both sides.
5. Stand in lotus, then go down in half squat with hands in namaste. Then reach down with hands on the floor and head to leg, then go down into full squat, balance in namaste and then reverse the poses back up to standing. Repeat other leg.
6. Lunge, hands on the floor, bind behind with shoulders under the front lunge leg and open yr chest and turn upwards. then move back leg slightly forward, then still in bind, lift the back leg up ===> binding standing split ( arrrr…. standing split already problematic, now a binding one?!! omg… really hard to balance) Repeat the other side
7. Wheel. 3 variations : 1. Normal 2. One leg up in wheel, repeat for both legs 3. head in headstand and legs to straighten
This was just what I remembered… there are couple more poses we did… phew… tough class! But if you are looking to really burn calories!

i was just re-visiting some tripsichore video clips from the YJ conference in Boston last night and someone was doing some camel variations in very challenging positions! very graceful and intriguing. the human body is just amazing. all of a sudden i thought about the rubber girl clip that you sent me some time ago….
