First of all, YEY! My yoga bud is back. So great to see her back in class!… but alas only for a day and then she is off for a short vacation again. Lucky girl!
Yep. “Vomit Muscles”… what exactly are those? Those muscles are the ones which you use when you… well, vomit! These are the same muscles which are just below the ribs, in fact when you vomit, you will feel the ribs being lifted as you vomit.
Apparently these muscles do help you when you try to lift up ( without kicking, mind you… ) into a handstand. So in the Wednesday class, there were these whole bunch of people “vomitting” in class. Yes, the teacher taught us that by using that muscle or the act of as if vomiting to help lift the body up into handstand.
Well, I tried… but I think I did not “vomit” enough… heee. Another improvement I have made is in my standing split. My yoga bud has given me an excellent tip : try to look to your lifted leg foot. It helped! I can feel the leg going more straight and my front of the body going more elongated along the bottom leg.
Anyway today I went for another teacher’s class and he did standing split also. He came around to help and he really “pulled” my lifted leg up vertically and pressed my bottom body against the standing leg. In effect, I could feel weightless for a moment. Is it really weightless at that vertical straight alignment? I have to ask my yoga bud when she comes back. She really does a perfectly standing split, her standing split never cease to inspire adn wow me. Just beautiful!

‘whahaha! vomiting in class. you are so funny. as for ‘weightless’?… yeah, kind of. kinda like a floaty feeling with the top leg (think of the feeling of balancing on your head when head is positioned at the crown rather than bregma… aka egg rolling on table) and the body feels a little like you’re ready to tilt and leap off a cliff. yup
standing spilt SO says it’s also the same feeling when floating into handstand… hmmm… that one i don’t know yet
