As usual, I went for my yoga practice yesterday and decided to go for one more class on top of my usual “intermediate” class. So I chose a supposedly easier class ( Power 1 class ) by one of my favourite teacher. This class was just before the usual harder class I go to, and only with a break of half an hour. But I thought it should be simple enough.

Haha… lo and behold. It was quite a tough class in that we practice the yoga with a yoga block! We did the sun salutation A with a block tucked between our legs. Teacher says that this will help us activate our legs by internally rotating the thigh muscles. omg… seriously my legs had never been so activated before throughout the practice. At one point I felt my muscles in my thighs almost cramping… I must say it is an excellent way to train a person on how to “hug” the shins in, internally rotate the thighs muscles and tuck in the tailbone without losing the muscles.

What you need to do : put the block between the upper thighs of your legs. Then spread your hips apart, lean forward and push the hips really apart. This will keep the muscles in your inner thighs rotated in. Then keeping that, only tuck your tailbone in. If you are doing it correctly at this point, your block between your legs should not be jutting out at all.

Then do your usual sun salutations with the block in your legs. You will feel the difference!

Ohya… to bad there was no handstands… I really miss it…

OM~
