Interesting Yoga Pose – Mandalasana Twenty Seven

This is the first time I am doing this – Mandalasana Twenty Seven in the Advanced Class by one of the indian teachers several days ago.
What is it? According to Light On Yoga, Mandala means wheel or orbit. Essentially this pose is to go into a headstand position with your head and arms with the legs in downward dog. Then slowly circle around the head clockwise and anti-clockwise by moving your feet in a circle keeping your head stationary.

This pose is not easy to do. When you are in that position, it is really tough to figure out how or what to move to get your body to circle with the head stationary. If you are not careful, you can easily hurt yourself.

This pose will help keep the spine and abdominal organs trim and healthy!

I got stuck while trying to navigate the 2nd turn back to the normal position. It’s like “ey, which leg supposed to move where to go around?”… lost in the turning. Plus it was really hard to keep the elbows on the ground, as everytime I turn, my elbows tend to move up and away from the floor.
But it was a good experience trying it.
