Thanks much! Yoga class is this evening, so I will try your recommendation today one way or the other. :-)

There is a Chinese girl in our class who does this pose perfectly. I have been trying to watch her to figure out how she does it, but that hasn't helped too much.

Oh, I saw your photos from your other post. Is the headstand being used in one of those photos? If so, it sure looks difficult. ^.^

Take care,
~Steph

Hey Steph

Headstand is actually quite simple for some people especially so for people with stiff backs. But not for me... but soon! :)

The "eagle pose" you mentioned is Garudasana. It is supposed to help with developing ankles and shoulders and it is great for balancing the body on the right and left side ( or so I have heard ).

You can try to do this to see if it helps while trying to "curl" your leg over the other :
Bend your knees lower ( as if going to go into a squat) and lean forward more. This really helps a lot in getting your leg over as it creates more space. Once you get your leg over and lock it behind the calf of the other leg, then you begin to tuck your tail bone and straighten your body more.

Don't fret though! ;) Just keep on practicing and chances are you will be able to go into it! ( just like my headstand... hehe )

Take care!

Thankfully we have not had to do any head stands in our yoga class. That sounds very difficult! :-O

If I recall correctly our newest pose is an "eagle pose"(?). It's a balance pose of standing on one leg and wrapping the other leg around your balance leg. The foot is supposed to go behind the calf, but I don't see where this is physically possible.

I am doing something wrong, obviously. It doesn't seem to be a matter of flexibility, but rather, the shin of course does not bend. So how do I get the foot around there? :P lol

Anyway I'm rambling now so I'll go. Good luck with the headstand. :D
