In yoga, there are inverted poses that includes variations of Salamba Sirsasana ( headstand ), handstand and Pincha Mayusara ( forearm balance).
Inversions are not regular day to day orientation that our body are used to. Hence most people are pretty much dis-orientated when doing inversions and often fear of falling kicks in. Yoga enables us to put ourselves in situations that are uncommon in our day to day life and allow us to challenge ourselves and in process learn more about ourselves and our bodies.
For example, I found out that for me to overcome my fear, I need to know that I am in control or rather know that what I am exactly doing. Take my problem with headstand. When I go up into headstand, I cannot feel or know where my foot is and I felt out of control and hence I was very much hesitant in going into headstand. In contrast now with the new way of going up into headstand whereby I know and can feel and control both of my legs, I was more confident in going up in headstand!
Thus problems and challenges in life are great for everyone. Without problems and challenges, we can never grow and better ourselves. So embrace problems and challenges! Do you know what the best part about problems and challenges that you face in your life is? It is really the feeling of immense pleasure when you overcome the problems and challenges!
