Headstand Part 5

I’m on the roll!!!

Ok, I am very happy to announce that my headstand time has increased to an amazing 8 seconds! ( near the wall! hehe )
:)

Just fab! That’s why I love yoga so much. It gives your body and mind challenges to overcome. I was watching Tony Robbins video on youtube yesterday and he mentioned that some people use violence as a way to break out of their boring life, a life that does not connect.

All people yearned for connection with other people, to give and contribute to people, to feel other people. Using violence is the way some people can get their instant “high”, a change in their emotional state. Imagine pointing a gun at someone’s head, immediately you get a rush of feeling and you get to “connect” to that someone. But it’s all for the wrong reason!

I think getting into a headstand is a much more gratifying feeling :) Plus I love it when people and friends tells me that they finally managed to do a particular pose, I feel so happy for them as I understand what it means. Every little improvement counts as they move you further ahead ( even by a tinee weenie half a millimeter…. )

Back to my headstand… Now the control is in how I shift the body weight about my head and elbows. (the feeling of going up is now more stable… I can feel that if I engage my legs I can move with so much control) Shirley has advised me to try to extend my head to gain a more stable base. She said that is exactly like standing except it is now the other way.

The best part is i am now looking forward to do headstand… I even sneaked in a headstand during a handstand… :P The fear of headstand is probably fading slowly. I hope to move away from the wall soon!

PS. To all of my friends who are in Hong Kong Yoga Conference, ENJOY YOURSELVES!!! ;) Come back and share your experience soon!

    Yo lesly …

congrats …!!! headstand is a wonderful pose…. (to me … hee hee …probably becos its the fountain of youth? hahahaha …)

Sean corn is a very strong woman. i love the message that she gave out that day in the ÿogini shakti class (the class is only for the ladies). That today’s women should be strong, confident, not to be afraid to say what they feel or to be intimidated by whatever messages/impressions the media/society is giving out. Becos women are the ones thats gonna give whatever life is teaching to the children [Hi to those who has also attended this class, if i'm incorrect in anyways, please correct me. Thank you. *smile*]

Yeah… and your idol … Desiree Rumbaugh … she’s a very fun, bubbly lady. Enjoyed her class thoroughly. :)

    Hi hi …
its me again … just wanna share about David Life’s class that i’ve attended in AYC Hong Kong, “Vinyasa By The Note”. Its a 2 hour class and he talked about music and whatever music you’re practising to is okay so long you feel comfortable and feel good. And he also talked about breath and karma and etc etc etc.
Anyways, he made us do sun salutations A & B, firstly in 4 counts, then in 16 counts. That means, when you inhale SLOWLY and raise your arms, at the last count, your palms should touched. Then, when you exhale SLOWLY and lowered to a standing forward bend, your palms should land on the mat at the last count too! haha .. imagine when you do it at a 16 count…!
i think the purpose is when you do it very very slowly with awareness on your breath and movement, you will forget ’bout the problems that are stuck inside your head becos you are so totally concentrated or so into your practice. Its a pretty strong message. :) [Again ... if anyone has also attended this class and if i'm incorrect in anyways, please correct me. Thank you. :) ]

    Thanks for sharing!

Today I tried my headstand again. This time only managed a 2 second… haha…

Hmm… interesting… but I wonder can it work for headstand when I cannot even balance properly yet? must try out tomorrow!

    Hee… you’ll make it one day … patience, yeah … :)
Desiree’s class … boat pose … instead of the norm way of entering the pose which is, sit upright, raise your legs straight at ’bout 45 degrees and at the same time lean back, she taught us to lie down with knees bent, feet flat on the mat, and start to curl the lower back and curl up into boat pose. That way, you work MORE on your core. Alternatively, you can sit upright as per usual and start to curl your lower back, to curl back into boat pose and eventually your legs off the mat. Also, work MORE on your core. Try it … !
