I almost did not make it today for the early class. At 5AM, I was still deep in slumber. I had a hard time falling asleep again at 11pm and it wasn’t until 1am that I finally drifted off to sleep. ( at this point, the dog has got to get the blame… his incessant barking is causing everyone sleepless nights… )
But luckily, I have a good yoga friend who gave me a wake up call.
Oh Joy!
I managed to wake up at 5am! On Monday, no less! Just because this week, I am attending Patrick’s Progression Sessions ( Brahma Track aka Awakening Sessions ) for five consecutive 6:30am morning sessions.
I was excited perhaps by the fact that finally we have proper Anusara classes again. Even if it’s only for 1 week.
It felt very good indeed. To be back practicing with a Anusara teacher teaching proper Anusara principles and alignment.
Yin yoga…. perhaps perfect for a good easy day of relaxation…ahhhh…
HAh!… I was so wrong. Perhaps weeks of inconsistent yoga practices and bad eating habits brought about much reluctant body and mind. This yin class was about opening hips and shoulders.
And boy, I really needed the openings, especially the shoulders.
We did some interesting variations to stretch and open the shoulders. And the teacher made us hold the pose for a pretty long time.
It always great when you practice hard and then go for a great meal with a bunch of good friends.
Always.
And I am really very lucky!
Today I went for “Garfield” yoga.
A dear yogi friend is going to start teaching yoga soon! He is most humble, kind and supporting soul and I think would be a terrific teacher of great empathy and patience. His yoga practice is awesome and he is always passionate about yoga, always learning and sharing. I personally think the latter qualities are definite markings of a good if not great teacher.
