What Is Yoga?

In today’s class, I began the class by asking myself this question. What does yoga mean to me?

Here are the thoughts that float into my head as I silently ask myself as I stood at the front of my yoga mat with my eyes closed :
connection
body, mind and breath
integration
calm
listening to my body
connected to my body
my breath
flow of breath in body

Next few phrases are my thoughts now as I typed this post :
freedom to express
awareness of your body
awareness of your mind
awareness of your breath
be present
healing
strength building
flexibility
detoxification

Seems like every class I go to, just before the class starts, I asked myself this question and different words seem to appear in my mind…

What about you? What do you think of when you ask yourself this question?

Everytime I yoga, I feel my body and mind are so connected, it feels like I’m the only one in the world, quiet, peace and bliss…

At first, I was skeptic about my level of connection with yoga. But now I really believe in its power to detoxify, calm and center oneself. I feel such a deep level of relaxation, I’m really happy with the results.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your thoughts about yoga. There is no right or wrong definition of yoga – only what you feel about yoga is the true definition of yoga for you. :)

I just realized another important meaning of yoga for me :

Yoga is about loving yourself, your body, mind and soul!

If I don’t love myself, would I even bother about going to yoga?
