If you are an avid yogi or yogini, you probably would have at least know about this magazine.
This is my favourite read ( other than my self improvement books… yes, I am a self improvement book junkie too! ) every month.

Sometimes when the local store had it come in in batches and I had to wait as the first batch was already sold out, it was pretty anxious and somewhat fearful wait that the store might not bring it in at all! *gasp* But as always, yoga buddies are great people. I had a yoga buddy who knew that I did not get a copy, had saw an available copy elsewhere and immediately bought it on my behalf. Cool eh?

If you are not a fan yet, you ought to be. Yes, it does have advisements ( lots ) in it, but bottomline is that the magazine gotta survive right? But I do envy yogis/yoginis in the US, as you guys get to buy the magazine at such a low price! And you guys have the coolest workshops, conferences to go to! I think it will be uber cool to attend those conferences and share with many ppl and learn from great teachers. One day I promise myself I must fly to US and attend Yoga Journal’s cool conference! ( and shopping of course… duh, cant take that away from a girl, k? )

Their website www.yogajournal.com is full of great articles too! Frankly I learnt alot of tricks and ways to improve myself from here. Go check it out if you have not done so.

Excellent book with lots of pictures of Iyengar himself doing all the poses ( over 600 pictures ). It is a great reference book for a learning student like me. Not only does the book show the asana but also explains the reason why the asana is named as such. For each asana, there is also its equivalent sanskrit, step by step instruction on how to go into the pose and the benefits it has for the body.

If you can only afford one book and you are a beginner, I highly recommend this book! I think my copy is getting the “dog ears”.. yikes.
