5 seconds finally… I am ecstatic! Mere 5 seconds but felt like an eternity… rolling a bit on the head and elbows, wobbling and most likely not very straight… but yet I get the feeling of balancing. And now I know what Shirley has been telling me about being in headstand… weight is definitely on the head and elbows and you can subtly adjust the weight from head to elbow and vice versa. It’s really a pose where I need to balance, shifting weight back and forth from head and elbows, keeping my legs engaged enough, tuck in the tail bone, core engaged ( <- its hard... but the more I suck the tummy in, I feel that I am more in control of the balancing... as heebs says "Bandhaaas" ).... so many things to take care... no wonder yoga is not only physical but very much a mental exercise as well! Body and mind must be in "sync"!

It has been a week since I did any headstand. Now that my neck strain recovered from the left and right pain, the pain has crept down onto the middle of the back neck on the right side. I went for 2 yoga class while still nursing this pain but I skipped out all the inversions and shoulder stands. It probably seemed to the yoga teacher that I am having my “moon cycle”… :P

Perhaps it is time to look for a chinese sinseh to “iron” out the final kinks in the neck or just lay low on yoga?

I’m on the roll!!!

Ok, I am very happy to announce that my headstand time has increased to an amazing 8 seconds! ( near the wall! hehe )
:)

Just fab! That’s why I love yoga so much. It gives your body and mind challenges to overcome. I was watching Tony Robbins video on youtube yesterday and he mentioned that some people use violence as a way to break out of their boring life, a life that does not connect.

Yes, here’s another exciting segment of learning headstand.

I am proud and happy to announce that I am now doing a 4 second headstand! :)

Glorious!

For the very first time, I can feel myself being able to balance for a whole whopping 4 seconds. Ok, it may not be alot to many people but for me it is a great sense of achievement. ( much like the day when I figured out how to kick up to a handstand against the wall ). This is the first time I can feel my weight on my elbows and head and by shifting those weight, I can sense that there was balancing action working. I guess part of the process is to get used to being upside down!

The force is with me…. Headstand (Salamba Sirsasana) balance is near… for a tiny 2 seconds interval I managed to balance.

This time I tried to go up without the wall with the single leg up first. But fear creeped in and my body refused to synchronize with my mind. All the time, my mind was like, “can do it”, “nothing to worry, to fall is not going to hurt”, “no biggie”, “go half way, no problem one”…. erm… But they did not work… HAH…

So I immediately shifted my mat to the wall. This time, I started to visualize myself lifting up and balancing on my head.
